Melanie Battaglia

Melanie’s practice is focused on family law and professional liability in the areas of family law, estate law and real estate. Melanie brings almost a decade of litigation experience in civil and family law to her practice, having worked at prominent Bay Street firms and a family law boutique prior to joining Rosen Sack. Melanie has experience in a range of areas including commercial disputes, medical negligence, and corporate law issues in family law matters relating to shareholders’ remedies, tax and complex support, equalization and valuation issues. She has represented clients at various levels of court, administrative tribunals and in mediation and arbitration.  She has appeared as co-counsel in both civil and family law trials.

Strives for Excellence

Melanie holds a M.A. in Criminology from the University of Toronto and a B.A. (Hons.) in Criminology and LL.B. from the University of Windsor.  An avid runner, including completing the Chicago and Boston marathons, Melanie was the recipient of the Heather Lynne Swift Memorial Bursary for excellence in combining academic achievement and athletic involvement while in law school.

Gives Back to Her Community

Melanie volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario’s Education Law Project and is a member of the Special Education Advisory Committee of the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Melanie also acts as a mentor to law students through the University of Windsor student mentoring program and is currently the President of the Toronto Chapter of Autism Ontario and a Senior Director of the Ontario Autism Coalition. Melanie is also a member of The Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
